With funding provided from the Calgary Domestic Violence Collective (CDVC) & Alberta Community & Social Services, we are extremely pleased to host our third annual Bridging Communities Conference; a one day interdisciplinary conference for professionals in Alberta on various topics surrounding family violence prevention. The conference is part of the CDVC’s commitment to provide educational opportunities, increase public awareness and engage the community in ending domestic violence.
Lisa has dedicated two decades to making the mental health, social service, and criminal justice systems more responsive to culturally diverse people. She is the author of the new book, Invisible Chains: Overcoming Coercive Control in Your Intimate Relationship, as well as Interviewing Clients Across Cultures: A Practitioner’s Guide and Child Abuse and Culture: Working with Diverse Families.
Rachael is an Assistant Professor with the Faculty of Social Work, Southern Alberta Region (Lethbridge). She has decades of experience from grass-roots feminist practice with women who have experienced violence, including community organizing with sex workers. She is also a meditation teacher and facilitates Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT).
