Domestic Violence and Women of Affluence

Women of affluence experience domestic violence at the same rates as the rest of the population, but we often fail to see their vulnerability because we are not accustomed to associating risk or helplessness with privileged populations. They face unique barriers, circumstances and cultural influences which can have a powerful impact on their needs and help-seeking behaviours. With the spread of COVID-19, this population has faced increased isolation and risk that has further enabled coercive control.

This webinar will outline the specific issues and barriers women of affluence face when disclosing or seeking help and suggest measures for appropriately addressing domestic violence within the context of the culture of affluence.

The training will be presented by Carrie McManus, Director of Innovation and Programs, Sagesse.
